We
hope this gives you an overview of the wonderful surroundings in which the Gîte of Mas Bellonte, the home of Lynn and Malcolm Preedy
is set.
We
are situated at a height of 600 metres in the foothills of Mount Canigou, the sacred Catalan
mountain in the Pyrénées Orientales region of Languedoc
Rousillion, in the sunniest corner of France, with an
average of over 300 days of sunshine each year.
Less
than an hour from Perpignan airport, both the Mediterranean beaches
and skiing at Font Romeu, Les Angles and various other ski resorts are also less
than an hour away.
Mas
Bellonte offers a wide variety of holiday opportunities for all year
round activities and is ideal for walking, mountain biking, cycling,
skiing or just relaxing in the grounds around the house which extend
to over 3 hectares (over 8 acres) with a meadow containing a variety
of fruit trees, woodland and a number of terraces leading down to
around 300 metres of a mountain trout river called La Rotja.
The
Mas was conceived and built, in a combination of pink marble and
river granite boulders, in the late 1940's by Maurice
Bellonte, a
celebrated French aviator, who, with Dieudonné Costes, were the
first aviators to fly East West from Paris to New York in 1930. The
property was operated through his lifetime and until the end of the 20th century
for the cultivation and production of Apples and Apple Juice.
If
you would like to stay at Mas Bellonte to discover and enjoy our
wonderful tranquil surroundings, then please contact Lynn and
Malcolm with a view to staying in our gite this season, where a
warm welcome is guaranteed.
